Wow! That was amazing! Never heard or seen anything like that before! That band is totally -well, they are something else aren't they!? That was beautiful Wreck.
You hit it right with the extra training in other fields. I have been trying to work out how to get a few in one big swoop, education wise. Having a job that you love, even if it is seasonal -that I believe is one of the few true keys to real happiness. I don't like wasting (too much!) time either. I can certainly dick around a good amount... ;p But then I have do something actually constructive, productive. Because otherwise it feels like, well what the crap was the point!?
I think part of the reason theater does so well during recession, (aside from deserving it of course!) is because people are rather of the thought process -well if I don't do it now, I really won't be able to do it later. Ya know? That is kind of how I have been functioning 'piss ass broke' lately. Once I get a bit of income, I just go insane spending it. Instead of one of some item, it's better buy three! Just crazy. I'd prefer an overwhelming play to having four deodorants though, any day. :( And I am with you, I just hope everything works out. There was certainly room for change. Hopefully we'll get it! And it will be the best thing to happen for everyone! or, we'll all be totally fucked... Meh! Trying to be positive! ;p
Ah! Tattoo's! I love tattoo's! I have about six now. The "about" is the one on the bottom of my foot, all but disappeared. So sad. And it tickled. Never fought so hard not to giggle or kick. I would say certainly -go for your first idea. The design you feel you can like and look at for the rest of your life. Something that just, gets you. I made a huge mistake of going for my second choice design (for my first tat)-and by a not so hot tat guy. I hate that tattoo. I am currently saving up to either remove it or cover that shit up!
If you can draw the design yourself, that is very cool! And actually some tatters will charge you for working on a design for you. My guy won't do that, thank god. You have to think about not only if you can stand the tattoo, but your work environment too. It shouldn't be that way, but hell, such is the way of the world sometimes. I get quite a few distasteful looks now, via my arm. All the others I can hide, but my biggest is well -my biggest. I didn't feel like thinking the placement through on that one, I love it there -but it has changed the way I am treated by some. O.k, many. And it is still not viewed as professional to have such a tat in certain office's. It doesn't hinder in anyway! It's just pretty! Absurd.
I'd say just get as much as you can done now,if you truly know and want it, and just save up to finish it when you can. But I have to tell ya Wreck, drove me near insane not getting to finish my arm for so long. (Over half a year.) I only had a tiny bit of the front done, just basic shapes. I fuckin hated it! Actually made me regret getting it for a long time. I kept getting "Oh, nice, um -well what is that??" But then, I finally saved the money to start filling it in. And it is one cool feeling to see it all come together. And strangely, I only tend to see it now -Like really notice it- when I see other people notice it. It really becomes a part of you. So really, I would just say -love the design. Love it.
And too, make sure you are comfortable with the tattoo Artist. Please lord make sure they are a true artist! I got lucky my second and third (to current! He's done five of my tats and he will do any more I venture for!) tat guys. Both of them refused to do certain designs -in the areas I had originally wanted, because it would be to cramped and thus look bad, lose it's detail. If the tatter is willing to lose money -so you don't look stupid, they are a KEEPER! ;p I'm serious. And they should be willing to really discuss your design. Not just slap it on ya. It's an irritating process with my guy, he wants to meet, discuss, "work it out together" -before he even ventures with a needle. But I can tell you, I stopped paying attention to his needlework after a time, because I trust him so completely with my skin. He put it this way "You are a walking advertisment of my ability, I'm not going to let you walk out of here looking halfassed! It makes us both look bad!" ha! Love it.
And when do I get to see the design eh?? I love to look at designs! I just love the idea of taking a piece of art with you everywhere. And the meaning behind it, is something you either can enjoy sharing, or enjoy hiding!! ;p
I hope you are good Wreck! Sorry for the bigass comment here! I hope I don't come off pushy or arrogant, it's just that of what I do know about tattoo's, I rather learned the hard way. Don't want to leave you to learn that way either! It sucked! ;p Happy Hoppy! Love to ya Wreck! <333
